Dr Georgina Baker
MBChB, FRACP

Dr Baker is an obesity physician and procedural gastroenterologist.  

Gastroenterology

Dr Baker completed her advance training in gastroenterology at Flinders Medical Centre and the South Australian Liver Transplant Unit. She practices full time in private gastroenterology, functional bowel disorders and neurogastroenterolgy and immunological gastrointestinal problems.  Dr Baker performs procedural gastroenterology, gastroscopy and colonoscopys in day procedures and private hospital settings.

Obesity Medicine

Dr Baker is deeply committed to the treatment of obesity as what it is, a disease. Through a combination of consultation of individualised treatment, therapy and medicine. This approach has been greatly informed through her time pursuing further post fellowship training at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne from 2009 to 2012 in Translational Neurobiology and Addiction Medicine.

Dr John Ring
MBBS, FRACP, PhD

Dr Ring is a consulting physician, hepatologist and procedural gastroenterologist. He received his gastroenterology training in Melbourne and Adelaide and post fellowship training in Birmingham, UK.  He is based at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Department of Gastroenterology and in private practice.

Dr Ring provides a consultation service for all gastroenterology and hepatology conditions, colonoscopy and gastroscopy and capsule endoscopy.

Dr Ring is available for consultation at Medical Specialists on Collins on Thursday mornings.

Dr John Nik Ding

Dr Ding is a gastroenterologist and post-graduate scholar who has commenced private practice at St Vincent's Private Hospital and Brunswick Private Hospital. He combines private practice with a senior medical specialist appointment at St Vincent’s Public Hospital where he is part of the Gastroenterology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease department, and leads the IBD Clinical trials Unit and the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program at St Vincent’s Public Hospital. He is also an appointed member of the Human Research Ethics Committee and sits on a number of international committees including the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (largest in IBD) where is a regular invited speaker. He is the founding chair of the Young Gastroenterology Society Network in Australia.

John has returned from London with his young family after completing his PhD in inflammatory bowel disease at Imperial College, where he was also appointed a clinical lecturer.

John has a special interest in luminal gastroenterology (IBD and irritable bowel syndrome), and is part of ongoing research projects in this areas across St Vincent’s Hospital and The University of Melbourne. His other interests include bowel cancer screening, coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease among others.

John offers endoscopy services at St Vincent’s Public, St Vincent’s Private Hospital and Epworth Hospitals. For patients who are uninsured and require endoscopy, appointments can be made at his private rooms or alternatively they can be waitlisted for procedures at St Vincent’s Public Hospital. Patients holding Pension or healthcare cards will be offered a reduced rate.

John works from a patient-centered approach and is open to discussing patients with GPs to provide cohesive ongoing treatment and care.
